Abstract

I raise two points about Sally Haslanger's work in Resisting Reality . The first point concerns the treatment of the categories of race and gender. The second point concerns the notion of ‘ideology’. I would like to argue that in both cases Haslanger's treatment of the issue goes beyond traditional approaches and establishes extremely interesting results. I also examine both cases to see whether her approach involves a certain residual individualism that makes some of her arguments less powerful than they could otherwise be.
